Rama with the Albanian medallists of Mediterranean Games; The Municipality predisposed for investments in sport infrastructure
The Mayor of the Municipality of Tirana, Edi Rama hosted the sportsmen who were honoured with various medals in the Mediterranean Games “Almeria” 2005, held in Spain three weeks ago. The Mayor Rama congratulated the sportsmen- sportswomen Klodiana Shala, Iliarin Suli, Fetie Kasaj, Romela Begaj and their trainers Taulant Stërmasi, Hektor Shaqiri and Faruk Kalleshi for the medals won and for the good image created in important games. He expressed the strong support of the Municipality of Tirana to realize a common project with the Albanian National Olympic Committee in relation to the needs for investments in environments and other needs of these sportsmen. Rama expressed that the Municipality is very willing and welcomes a concrete project for the improvement of sport infrastructure either with its funds either with investments from private donors. “It is important to be totally willing to make a detailed project with all necessary elements with the aim of comprehending who will make what, with the intention that this result of Mediterranean Games will be stimulation for other competitions “- said Rama. Promising to intervene with investments the mayor Rama said that after overcoming barriers, which come from lack of sport infrastructure, the final goal for the sportsmen is the Olympic games, which will be held in Beijing, China.
While the president of the Albanian National Olympic Committee, Hysen Domi, the Head of the Mission nearby this committee Fidel Ylli and General Secretary of KOKSH, Stavri Bello expressed that they have identified the needs and welcomed the proposal of Rama for the compilation of a common project for investments in sport environments for such resultant athletics that contribute to promote the name and image of Albania.
In the participation of the 15-th edition of Mediterranean Games “Almeria 2005” in Spain held during June 23- July 23 2005, Albania received 6 medals (2 Platinum medals and 4 Bronze medals) ranking in 15-th place for won medals as a total and 17-th from 21 participating countries where those states with golden won medals have advantages in ranking.
